Halo: Combat Evolved for Mac, free and safe download. Does it work in OS X Lion? Dammit i just wanna ask that but softonic forces me to write more words so. I'm running Halo Combat Evolved with the 2.0.2 patch applied on a Mac Mini Core Solo 1.5 GHz with 1 GB of RAM and OS X 10.4.9. Halo runs quite well on this.
I just got my Mac Leopard, and I want to learn how to play Halo 3, and Halo 3 ODST when it comes out in September, but I'm not sure where, or how, to begin. I haven't bought the game or the X Box 360 setup yet, because I don't yet know what to do. Do you have to have Windows XP or Vista installed? Is XP better than Vista as in less buggy? Can X Box be hooked up to Mac?
These questions may seem silly, but that's 'cause I'm new! Any advice is welcome! Do you recommend a store where one can go in and see this stuff in action?
I haven't bought the game or the X Box 360 setup yet, because I don't yet know what to do. You purchase the game and an X-Box, plug it into your television and have at it. It's just that Xbox's Halo 3 game looks exciting to play, and I've never played an Xbox game before, so I thought others who own Macs might well understand this dilemma and be able to advise me. No idea why someone should know about X-Box games because they own a Mac. If you want to play Halo 3 on an X-Box, you will need an X-Box. The link posted above is for Playback, which simply allows an X-Box to play music stored on a Mac. It's not to play X-Box games on a Mac.
I just hope for a little guidance from my fellow Mac users Is there something you are expecting the Mac to do? You keep referring to X-Box. X-Box is a platform as are Windows and Mac. You can purchase a Windows version of Halo and it has nothing to do with the X-Box.
Install Windows on your Mac and you can run it (with no X-Box involved). I just got my Mac Leopard, and I want to learn how to play Halo 3, and Halo 3 ODST when it comes out in September, I understand that you wanted a Mac, but I don't see what that has to do with an Xbox game.
If you are talking about using a windows version and want to know which version of windows to use, why come to a Mac support site? Bootcamp will let you run either version of Windows, but then you are not on a Mac, you are just running a real good PC.
Apple has made it possible for you to run OS's from the dark side, but we really don't support either OS. Do you have to have Windows XP or Vista installed? Is XP better than Vista as in less buggy? Here again, the advantages of one version of Windows over another is not something that an Apple Support Forum is really designed for. I run WindowsXP so that I can run Windows programs that are not available on my Mac like IExplorer to check web pages I build.
I don't think I could justify spending a couple thousand on a machine and then use it to play Games for a different OS. Running a legal copy of Windows on a Mac means you have to buy a full release copy of Windows (name a flavor). Can X Box be hooked up to Mac? These questions may seem silly, but that's 'cause I'm new!
Since the Mac isn't running the game, what would be the advantage of hooking them together? The Xbox is a really nice gaming machine. It's actually one of the few good hardware devices that Microsoft has designed. But it doesn't run any Apple games, so you really should check out the gaming sites for the best information. Thanks for your input.
I have come to a Mac support site because I own a Mac, which I love. It's just that Xbox's Halo 3 game looks exciting to play, and I've never played an Xbox game before, so I thought others who own Macs might well understand this dilemma and be able to advise me. I had to laugh at your 'dark side' comment. That was funny! As far as the better version of Windows, XP or Vista, to use with Bootcamp, again, I hoped for advice from those with Macs who have experience in such matters.
I have indeed gone to gaming sites as you suggest here. I just hope for a little guidance from my fellow Mac users. Thanks again. I haven't bought the game or the X Box 360 setup yet, because I don't yet know what to do. You purchase the game and an X-Box, plug it into your television and have at it.

Install Windows on your Mac and you can run it (with no X-Box involved). Chris CA said: 'You purchase the game and an X-Box, plug it into your television and have at it.' Yes, this works for playing Xbox on television. I was referring to playing the online version.
'No idea why someone should know about X-Box games because they own a Mac.' To clarify, I meant people who own Macs who also wish to play Xbox games, and how they resolve this. 'If you want to play Halo 3 on an X-Box, you will need an X-Box.' 'The link posted above is for Playback, which simply allows an X-Box to play music stored on a Mac. It's not to play X-Box games on a Mac.' Thank you, that helps to know! 'Is there something you are expecting the Mac to do?'
The problem was how to play Xbox games on Mac. 'You keep referring to X-Box. X-Box is a platform as are Windows and Mac.' This is good to know. 'You can purchase a Windows version of Halo and it has nothing to do with the X-Box. Install Windows on your Mac and you can run it (with no X-Box involved).'
This is also good to know. Thanks again!
